Movement Evaluation (Screening and Testing)

Intake-Process.jpg

A comprehensive Movement Evaluation starts with a thorough client intake questionnaire (background info, medical/injury history, training experience, health and performance goals etc.) and consultation to map out a plan of action. Second, depending on your goals, we may want to gather baseline medical and anthropometric data (i.e. girth and body composition measurements) before moving on to musculoskeletal assessments that look at fundamental qualities such as mobility (passive and active joint range of motion) and stability/motor control. Next, we will look at some foundational movements (squat, hinge, push, pull, rotation etc.) and goal-specific movement competencies and capacities (strength, power, speed, agility etc.) making sure we identify the most important targets for training and/or treatment in order to optimize the program design and exercise prescriptions.

Below are some of the world-class research, experts, and systems I draw upon to evaluate and enhance your health and performance:

Movement Evaluation Pricing:

The cost and length of the session will depend on the particular screens, assessments, and testing protocols conducted, which will be co-determined in advance in the initial consultation (book now). At least 90min is recommended for those interested in specific neuromuscular assessments and strength and power testing (i.e. athletes looking to measure performance variables such as vertical jump, MB throws, pull ups, push up etc.). One hour is likely suffice for a basic movement screen and musculoskeletal function/mobility assessment.

60min = $120

90min = $160

Reasons to Evaluate (Screen and Test) Movement:

  • Understand how posture, position, and patterns of movement affect your performance, tissue quality, and joint health and longevity.

  • Screen for potential 'red flags' - movement or joint dysfunctions that could lead to injury or require a referral for further diagnostics and treatment.

  • Identify your specific movement capacity deficits and select appropriate exercises and training goals before starting a new program or class.

  • Optimize your daily movement practices and fitness routines based on the results of the Evaluation.

  • Learn the most efficient and effective movement practices to "bullet-proof" your body and reduce the incidence of pain and injury.

  • Use objective data to measure current abilities and monitor future progress.
