Awesome Off-Season (AOS) Golf Fitness Program

Our AOS Golf Fitness Program is a comprehensive 12 week off-season physical preparation program - divided into three 4-week modules - designed to optimally prepare you to play the best golf of your life next season! 

Location: 

  • FRESH! Fitness Life Plaza Facility (Downtown - 7th Ave and 7th Street SW)

Instructor:

  • Scott Lahey - BKIN, CSCS, FMS2, Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf Fitness Instructor 

Program Objectives: 

  • Learn about the body-swing connection - what physical factors influence the biomechanics of your golf swing
  • Remove and improve - remove movement restrictions (stiffness, tightness etc.) and improve the quality and efficiency of posture and movement
  • Learn to play pain-free golf
  • Improve stability, control, and structural balance in the body
  • Build a bullet-proof body - strong and efficient; resistant to fatigue and injury
  • Learn to create smooth, easy power - transfer strength/force into club head velocity 

Program Overview:

  • Three 4-week modules, each with specific training goals
  • TPI Golf Movement Screen and Fitness Testing - pre and post 
  • 45min golf-specific small group training sessions 
  • 1, 2, or 3x/week options (4-12 per module; 12-36 sessions total)
  • Take-home golf fitness program (module specific)
  • Indoor golf simulator practice rounds (1 round per module - more can be purchased)

Module 1: Improving Movement - 4 weeks (January 15th - February 9th) 

In this introductory module, golfers will start to learn about the body-swing connection - what movement patterns and characteristics are required to produce a biomechanically efficient and individualized golf swing - your golf swing.   The focus of the group golf fitness coaching sessions will be on improving your movement quality - mobility, freedom of movement, stability, posture, joint integrity - and removing any restrictions that may interfere with your ability to play golf free of pain, stiffness, tightness etc.  Module 1 includes the following: 

  • Golf Fitness Combine (Testing)
    • TPI Golf Movement Screen and Fitness Testing performed on the first day of the group fitness sessions (post testing will be done at the end of Module 3).
    • Golf-specific movement, strength, and power tests - like the NFL Combine, but for golfers.
  • Independent golf fitness training program (phase specific)
    • Performed independently at home or personal gym setting
  • One, two, or three group (8 players maximum) golf fitness coaching sessions per week for 4 weeks (4-12 sessions total)
    • Facilitated by Playfit Health and Performance Coach Scott Lahey  - BKIN, CSCS, FM2, TPI Certified Golf Fitness Instructor
    • Up to 8 players per group
    • Class Times: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays @ 1:15pm - 2:00pm (Jan 15 - Feb 9)
  • One Indoor Golf Simulator practice round (pricing based on booking as a foursome).  
    • Bookings can be made through the FRESH! Fitness Staff at 403-217-2730.
    • additional practice rounds may be booked with FRESH! Fitness Staff.    

Module 1 Tuition:

  • 3 sessions/week = $360
  • 2 sessions/week = $280
  • 1 session/week = $160

Module 2: Improving Strength and Stability - 4 weeks (February 26th - March 23rd) 

In this second module, golfers will build on the movement patterns and mobility gained in module 1 and start to improve strength, stability, structural balance, force production and control.  Essentially, the focus of the group fitness sessions will be on building a bullet-proof body - one that is strong yet loose, resistant to fatigue and injury, and that produces easy and rapid force production.  Module 2 includes the following: 

  • Independent golf fitness training program (phase specific)
    • Performed independently at home or personal gym setting
  • One, two, or three group (8 players maximum) golf fitness coaching sessions per week for 4 weeks (4-12 sessions total)
    • Facilitated by Playfit Health and Performance Coach Scott Lahey  - BKIN, CSCS, FM2, TPI Certified Golf Fitness Instructor
    • Up to 8 players per group
    • Class Times: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays @ 1:15pm - 2:00pm (Feb 26 - Mar 23)
  • One Indoor Golf Simulator practice round (pricing based on booking as a foursome).  
    • Bookings can be made through the FRESH! Fitness Staff at 403-217-2730.
    • additional practice rounds may be booked with FRESH! Fitness Staff.

Module 3: Improving Speed and Power - 4 weeks (April 9th - May 4th) 

In this third module, golfers will begin to properly utilize or transfer the strength and stability gained in module 2 into a rapid, smooth, and powerful golf swing.  The focus of the group fitness sessions will be on improving the rate of force development of many functional movements that will allow the golfer to transfer any newly gained strength into the golf swing.  Module 3 includes the following: 

  • Golf Fitness Combine (Testing)
    • TPI Golf Movement Screen and Fitness Testing performed on the last day of the group fitness sessions
    • Golf-specific movement, strength, and power tests - like the NFL Combine, but for golfers.
  • Independent golf fitness training program (phase specific)
    • Performed independently at home or gym setting
  • One, two, or three group (8 players maximum) golf fitness coaching sessions per week for 4 weeks (4-12 sessions total)
    • Facilitated by Playfit Health and Performance Coach Scott Lahey  - BKIN, CSCS, FM2, TPI Certified Golf Fitness Instructor
    • Up to 8 players per group
